Why, as a Psychotherapist, Have I Turned My Focus to Reading the Akashic Records?

People sometimes ask me why I have turned my attention to the Akashic Records after so many years as a licensed psychotherapist, ordained pastoral counselor, and community educator.

A brief answer is, I feel nothing is more important than accessing our Deeper / Wiser / Fuller Selves to bring us into alignment with our “right mind”.

An expanded answer has to do with the original nature of psychology itself.  Contrary to the assumption of many, the root word of psychology is not psycho (as in ‘crazy’) – it is psyche (as in soul, mind, or spirit).  For me, this is the root meaning of – and true path and purpose of – psychology:   to value, explore, unfold, and uplift the soul.  And it has always been a guiding principle and practice of my work in the world.

Pathology, or Humanity?

Over time, the practices within psychotherapy have become increasingly oriented toward viewing the human experience through a lens of pathology:  something must be wrong, and it is our responsibility to fix it.

In my experience, this considerably narrows the scope of what constitutes normative and healthy adaptation and growth.  It also gives me more power and responsibility in the therapeutic relationship than is appropriately mine.

From the perspective of the Akasha, our innate goodness is a given!  Life is perceived not as a matter of “fixing” anything, but rather uncovering what is True about us and living our lives from this understanding.

Coming home to ourselves ~

I fully resonate with this perspective. It feels like coming home. Rather than abandoning my years of training and experience in the mental health field, this approach allows me to broaden and deepen it.

I am delighted to join fellow travelers on this human journey. If you’d like to meet in the light and love of the Akasha, please contact me ~
