The Heart Is As a Compass

Cheryl: Akashic Guides, you often speak of the importance of remembering who we truly are. In this time of such turbulent energies and distractions, would you please speak to the ‘how to’ of remembering and the ‘how to’ of holding onto that knowing?

Guides: Of course, Dear One. The answer to how to remember and how to hold on is the same – be still. It is in the stillness that what is false recedes and what is so becomes evident.

As you sat observing nature this morning, did you not begin to feel yourself ‘disappearing’?

Cheryl: Yes! I love the experience of self-awareness and self-definition softening. I feel as though I disappear into the background, merging with the surroundings. The sensation of being nature (rather than separate from it) as various creatures approach with disinterest or curiosity feels so very sweet.

Guides: And where are your many concerns in those moments?

Cheryl: They seem not to exist, or at least to have no power to cloud my mood or consume the present moment. I am just noticing the beauty and wonder of the life before me, and for lack of a better description, simply communing with it.

Guides: In those moments, you are opening the door to awareness of who you truly are, or perhaps we should say, the door swings open. Without stopping and dropping into the moment, observing without judgement, you remain on the hamster wheel of the mind.

The mind can serve you well, but not when it is disconnected from the Heart and running amuck.

[note from Cheryl: At this point, ‘stopping and dropping’ reminds me of the lifesaving instructions to ‘stop, drop, and roll’ if your clothing is on fire. We share a laugh as they suggest that – in a manner of speaking – we are ‘on fire’ when on the hamster wheel!]

Only through the Heart can you know your true essence.

Cheryl: I want to ask a question about the Heart, but I first want to repeat what you have said so that it sinks in.

So, you are saying that to know truly who we are - and to hold onto that knowing, we must give ourselves the experience of simply stopping, dropping in, being still, releasing, and noticing - ?

Guides: Yes, though it is not even so much about an act of releasing. We would not choose that word because for so many of you it triggers the energy of a wrestling match.

In the stillness and space to do nothing, what is not authentic to you drops away without effort.

Initially, these things may arise as thoughts and you may choose to consciously imagine releasing them. We would encourage you to allow them to simply melt or drift away.

We have said before that the statement ‘I am’ is powerful. Use these words carefully and consciously, with the utmost Love.

Cheryl: I can feel the power of these two words as a declaration! Though I notice we often use them as a prefix: I am this, I am that, I am __________, rather than as a stand alone affirmative statement. It’s easy to turn them against ourselves when used this way. It encourages us to take on all kind of false identities.

Guides: Indeed, to convince you that you are something you are not – and, to distract you from what you genuinely are.

In stillness, what you are rises naturally.

Choose to make space for stillness and your authentic nature and condition appears – peaceful, connected, resourced, joyful, and loving.

Cheryl: And in that, there is no space for fear or condemnation.

Guides: Correct.

Cheryl: So, circling back to the Heart. You said several years ago that there is no more powerful thing in all the Universe than the Human Heart and today that it is only through the Heart that we can know our true essence ....

Guides: Yes, the Heart is the key and the door to your greatness, to coming into the fullness of your creation and connection to All.

Again, we would say that the Heart is the most powerful source of transformative power in the Universe.

It is, as some would say, the ‘seat of the soul’.

This is why there is such keen competition for capturing it.

The Heart is as a compass – its focus determines not only the ultimate destination, but the experience of now and the journey as well. It is easy to lose your bearings if you allow yourself to be tossed about by the winds and waves of current events or the imaginings of the mind.

With much tenderness and respect, we remind you to be diligent and loving in your daily choices.

Focus upon that which is your Heart’s desire, that you may come into full flower and contribute to creating the New which is indeed arising. Seek stillness and Be.

We are ever near and hold you in much Love and Appreciation.
