Akashic Musings 1

For a while now, I’ve been feeling inspired to share with you my perspectives on the Akashic Records and Akashic Record readings.

During a recent reading, a client asked several excellent questions about my experience as a reader of the Akashic Records. I had never been asked to share about this aspect of the readings and I found the questions thought provoking! Her questions helped catalyze me into action.

After the reading, I asked if I might share her questions in a blog and received her blessing to do so. Below, I share one of her questions and some expanded musings. It offers a glimpse into my experience as a reader of the Akashic Records.

Moving forward, I envision a series of blogs with more questions - or topics - offering a window into my understanding of the Akashic Records, what a personal reading might entail, and my approach to reading the Akashic Records (my own records, as well as others’).

I hope you enjoy this opening blog post to the series which focuses on how I ‘get out of the way’ in a reading!

_______

Question:‍ ‍“What I was initially curious about was, how do you keep your 'person' out of it, so that the guidance comes through you but isn't filtered by you, unless necessary for understanding?”

Cheryl: This is such a great question!

How do I keep ‘my person’ out of the way? Well, to begin with, I aim to read with an open mind, and through the Heart center.

Before I sit with someone and enter their Akashic Records, I spend 20-30 minutes in prayer - clearing the energy, entering my own Akashic Records, and asking for assistance with ‘getting out of the way’. This helps me prepare the space and be as ‘clean’ in my own energy as possible, so I am better able to be open and in service.

But there is always the element of humanness involved! The best I can do is to keep the channel clear, stay observant, and move the ego / small self to the side. This is likely true for any reader or channel. I work very consciously to be mindful of my own opinions, agendas, and beliefs, then intentionally set them to the side before I enter the space to offer a reading.

Every reader brings something distinct to a reading, because of their own unique journey. We are all formed and informed by our particular life experiences. How we’ve navigated our human adventures, learned from them (or not!), informs whether the reader’s / channel’s field is clearer or more obfuscated.

Many years ago, I participated in a shamanic training. Participants in the training practiced with one another in dyads, one person journeying, the other witnessing. Some aspects of those experiences that have really stayed with me over the years:

✹ one’s perception simply is what it is

✹ interpretation is primarily the responsibility of the perceiver

✹ interpreting another’s perception can muddy the waters!

When sitting with a client and relaying the ‘felt sense’ of information I receive from their Akashic Guides, sometimes I share my perception of images or sounds that appear in my field to try to convey that felt sense. Yet, in the end, each of us is quite capable of our own interpretation.

That part is really not my business! My business is to relay the information, the energy, the substance, and the flavor of it as cleanly as possible - not my interpretation of it, nor what you do with it.

Interestingly, I have also experienced ‘my person’ being engaged in very positively by the Guides. For instance, the Guides have at times lead me to share something of my own lived experience as a way to illuminate an element of the reading or to offer encouragement. In such cases, I feel it is not an interference but an integral part of ‘the message’ for the person I am sitting with.

But really, the person receiving the reading is the final authority on anything that is offered.
